Lawsuit Affiliated with EBay Breach is Dismissed
In late February and early March 2014, eBay suffered a data breach that led to the exposure of passwords and personal information belonging to over 145 million users. According to eBay, stolen personal info included names, emails, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and dates of birth.
In July 2014, Colin Green filed a lawsuit against eBay on behalf of all the eBay users who suffered the penalties associated with the data breach. However, since the plaintiffs failed to prove that they suffered an actual or threatened injury, the judges who were in charge of the case agreed on eBay’s side and rejected the lawsuit.
